James and Mary Ellen were married on Feb. 9, 1854 in County Leitrim, Ireland. They left Ireland for Chicago with their five eldest children about 1869. After their arrival, they had two more children. Catherine was likely born very soon after their arrival. She died on Aug. 14, 1872.
